# Protection layer against hacks

Hello team. Is there a protection layer when someone hacks your account and tries to unlock your xmex? Is the guardian asked from the system when someone tries to unlock their xmex? Thanks.

Hey @rotnisi !

Indeed, if you have activated the Guardian, it will protect your assets on the MultiversX network, including xMEX, as unlocking it, for example, requires signing a transaction.

It’s worth also noting that the unlocking process is subject to a 10-day unbonding period, similar to EGLD unstaking.  
Even if someone else attempts to unlock your xMEX, you could cancel that transaction during this period.
